stage crew

Our stage crew should be a fully functioning ecosystem. Please use this as a guide but adjust as needed to ensure our Stage Manager has all information at any given time to ensure they can make they safest decisions regarding the show.
We demand safety above all else. We want to put on the safest & most entertaining event possible.

Stage Crew: Stage Manager

The purpose of the stage manager is to keep the show running in a safe and timely manner. All information travels through the stage manager. Any issues can be brought to Jolene Theresa but only through the stage manager.

Reports to: Jolene Theresa

Arrival: review production schedule, run of show & find first aid kit

  • As performers/crew arrive, EVERYONE needs to sign liability waivers & media release (cast, crew, photographer, videographer, everyone on staff) - review medical information & discuss with performer/crew as needed

  • Sign liability waiver & media release

  • Introduce yourself to assistant manager, pole tech, props manager, stage crew

  • Assist with event setup

  • Nothing allowed at podium except for your personal belongings - props go to Props Manager

  • Test intercom system

  • Coordinate with assistant stage manager to ensure they are aware performers need to be backstage & ready to go 2 acts prior to their act

  • Assist with event teardown

Departure: personally hand all liability waivers & media release to Jolene Theresa

Stage Crew: Assistant Manager

The purpose of the assistant stage manager is to help the stage manager keep the show running in a safe and timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to, managing talent, assisting with props/costumes, running quick errands & working with venue staff.

Reports to: Stage Manager

Arrival: everyone must sign liability waiver & media release (cast, crew, photographer, videographer, everyone on staff)

  • Sign liability waiver & media release

  • Assist with event setup

  • Remind performers of tech/stage testing time - inform them props are to be discussed with Props Manager & pole orientation with Pole Tech at tech/stage testing

  • Ensure performers are back stage 2 acts prior to their act

  • Assist with carrying props to back stage, assist with last minute costume issues

  • Assist with event teardown

Departure: personally ensure all dressing rooms are clean & clear of debris, walk all rows of seats cleaning any debris or spills, anything props, costumes, etc. left behind goes home with Jolene Theresa

Stage Crew: Pole Tech

The purpose of the pole tech is to keep poles clean, adjust pole orientation per talent request and to keep pole area clean and clear of debris.

Reports to: Stage Manager

Arrival: check in w/ Stage Manager or Asst. Stage Manager

  • Sign liability waiver & media release

  • Assist with event setup

  • Check poles, find hex keys (should be underneath back of poles)  

  • Review run of show to ensure pole orientation is correct

  • At tech/stage testing, confirm pole orientation with performers > do not let anyone pull your attention, tell them no you cannot help right now

  • Work with Props Manager on any larger props

  • Assist with event teardown

Departure: personally ensure all hex keys are back in a box going home with Jolene Theresa

Stage Crew: Props Manager

The purpose of the props manager is to ensure placement and removal of all props for both the show itself and individual talent.

Reports to: Stage Manager

Arrival: check in w/ Stage Manager or Asst. Stage Manager

  • Sign liability waiver & media release

  • Assist with setup

  • Review run of show props

  • At tech/stage testing, confirm prop placement/removal with performers, use gaff tape (ONLY USE GAFF TAPE) to mark anything that needs to be marked > do not let anyone pull your attention, tell them no you cannot help right now

  • Assist with event teardown

Departure: personally ensure all props, decor, costumes, etc. are removed from venue - even if they go home with Jolene Theresa

Event Setup & Teardown

All stage crew are expected to join us for setup & teardown of the show. The more people on hand, the less work there is. Each crew member will be given a list of simple tasks to complete before the doors can open.

Reminders

We are a safety based event.
Attendance is required at all cast & crew meeting.
Do not give my mother any jobs, she will not do them.
Be honest with reviews about the event & performers (can be done privately).
